Air Bandits were led to their 2.06 point victory by a 22.00 point effort from the Chicago Bears Defensive Team. With this performance, the Bears was the number 1 ranked defensive team for week 5. They also got help from a 21.68 point effort from Peyton Manning, who got by the Houston Texans defense for 247 passing yards and 2 passing tds in addition to 8 rushing yards.
"We snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat," Air Bandits coach Chris Hardy said.
Franklin Bulldogs were helped out in a losing cause by a 24.80 point effort from Clinton Portis, who beat the Philadelphia Eagles defense for 145 rushing yards and 1 rushing td in addition to 13 receiving yards. With this performance, Portis was the number 3 ranked running back for week 5. They also got help from a 19.10 point effort from Michael Turner, who beat the Green Bay Packers defense for 121 rushing yards and 1 rushing td.
"I take full responsibility for this loss," Franklin Bulldogs coach Chris Reed said.
Adding salt to the wound, Franklin Bulldogs could have scored 133.52 points and gotten the win with their best lineup, but Chris Reed left key players like Brandon Stokley and his corresponding 17.20 points on the bench.
This brings the record for Air Bandits to 2-3, and drops Franklin Bulldogs to a record of 1-4.
Coming up in week 6, Air Bandits are at the 3-2 Chase's All Stars, where Chase's All Stars are an early 26.9-point favorite, while the 5-0 Long Shot are at Franklin Bulldogs, where Franklin Bulldogs are an early 19.4-point underdog.
